Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal was taken to the PWD rest house in Jalandhar on Thursday after he refused to be admitted to a hospital.
Dallewal was detained in Mohali on Wednesday evening while returning from a meeting with a central delegation when Punjab Police began evicting protesting farmers from the Shambhu and Khanauri border points, which have been closed for more than a year.
Sarwan Singh Pandher was also detained.
In Chandigarh, the fresh round of talks between farmer leaders and a central delegation to discuss various farmer demands remained inconclusive. Police personnel could be seen dismantling the stages at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points.
At the Shambhu protest sites, police deployed JCB machines to remove the structures set up by farmers.
Many tractor-trolleys and other vehicles of protesting farmers could be seen standing on the road. Earlier, farmers at the Khanauri border point held a protest against police action against farmer leaders. They raised slogans against the Punjab government.
