In quarantine, CRPF man ‘shoots self’ in Fatehgarh Sahib
Fatehgarh Sahib, May 21
A head constable of the CRPF posted as a sentry allegedly shot himself in the head at a quarantine centre of the battalion here today.
The deceased has been identified as Tejwant Singh, 42, a resident of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh. Commandant Harminder Singh said Tejwant had gone home on leave and reported back for duty a few days ago.
He said as per the Covid protocol, he was sent to a quarantine centre of the battalion for a few days. Around 3.30 am today, he received information Tejwant had allegedly shot himself with his gun. SHO Kewal Singh said the police were investigating the cause as no suicide note was recovered from the spot. The body was handed over to them after a post-mortem examination. — OC
