The Sadar police have booked a head constable and two home guard jawans after an undertrial, who was found positive for Covid-19, escaped from the local Civil Hospital there on Tuesday. The accused, Gurdev Kumar of Ludhiana, has earlier been booked in a fraud case registered at the Lambi police station. He was later rearrested, claimed the police.

A case against Gurdev, head constable Balraj Singh, and home guard jawans Gurmeet Singh and Jagroop Singh had been registered under Sections 223 (escape from confinement or custody negligently suffered by public servant), 224 (obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension), 188 (disobedience to order), 269 and 27o (negligent act likely to spread infection) of the IPC, said the police. — TNS
