Jalandhar: A special court on Wednesday summoned Kudratdeep Singh, alias Lovie, who has been named as a co-accused in the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged sand mining case. District and Sessions Judge Rupinderjit Chahal summoned Kudratdeep Singh on May 5. Bhupinder Singh Honey, nephew of ex-CM Charanjit Channi, has already appeared in the court. tns

2-member panel to look into pendency of cases

Chandigarh: Acting on a complaint of huge pendency of official files, pertaining to promotion, court cases and fixing seniority issue and staff grievances in the Directorate of Technical Education and Industrial Training, the Administrative Secretary has formed a two-member panel to probe the matter. Nearly 2,306 cases were allegedly pending till March. tns

PSPCL JE caught accepting bribe in Bassi Pathana

Fatehgarh Sahib: Power corporation Junior Engineer (JE) Deep Singh posted in Bassi Pathana was allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 in lieu of repairing a power line in Sahajadpur village. The complainant, Satnam Singh, approached MLA Rupinder Singh who asked him to file a police complaint. “The JE was caught accepting the bribe,” said DSP Jangjit Singh.
