Thieves stole ornaments and cash (approximately Rs 90 lakh) from the house of a farmer at Namol village (Sunam) last night. At the time of the theft, the family was sleeping in the house. The thieves managed to break open the almirahs and lockers and fled with the stolen articles and cash.

The police have registered a case at Cheema police station. The police suspect the involvement of three persons in the theft. Sub Inspector Harinder Singh, police station, Cheema, said this evening that the theft had been committed at the house of Chuhar Singh at Namol village (Sunam).

Babu Singh, sarpanch, said that two sons and a daughter of Chuhar Singh had been residing abroad while he along with his wife, daughter-in-law and a granddaughter had been residing at Namol.
