Chandigarh, August 27
IPS officer Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, the key investigator in the Sidhu Moosewala killing case, has been posted as the DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He assumed charge on Tuesday, the occasion also happening to be his birthday.
Hailing from Zafarnama village in Moga, Dhaliwal had also cracked another sensational murder case of international kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambian. His team arrested the gang that had shot the player.
Police teams of Delhi led by Dhaliwal had tracked down and arrested three — Priyavrat Fauji, Ankit Sersa and Kashish — of the six shooters in the Moosewala case. The Delhi Police also contributed in tracking down the fourth shooter, Deepak Mundi, from near the Nepal border. He was arrested by the Punjab Police.
Dhaliwal’s another achievement in recent past was the busting of an extortion racket run by gangster Deepak Boxer, who was extradited from Mexico. He was once also posted as the SP (Operations), Chandigarh.
