Mohali, November 18

An Enforcement Directorate (ED) court today remanded Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira in judicial custody in the money laundering case. The next date of hearing has been fixed for December 2.

Khaira was produced in the court after completion of his seven-day ED remand. The ED demanded an additional seven-day remand, but the defence counsel opposed it, saying the agency had failed to get anything incrimination from Khaira and that there was no reason for an extension.

Khaira claimed a political conspiracy had been hatched against him to demoralise him. He claimed the BJP was already against him, but hidden elements in the Congress had now conspired to defame him, adding he would “expose” them at the right time.
