Khalsa Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harmeet Singh alias ‘Happy PhD’ was reportedly gunned down near Gurdwara Dera Chahal on the outskirts of Lahore on Friday.

Indian security agencies said Singh was killed due to some financial dispute between terrorists and drugs smugglers. However, Punjab police officials are yet to confirm the killing or the motive behind it. Officials said they were verifying the claims as of now.

Singh was accused of targeted killings of right-wing leaders and followers of Dera Sacha Sauda in Punjab. However, his involvement in drugs smuggling was not previously known.

In an exclusive interview with The Tribune last year, Singh’s Amritsar-based parents had asked him to surrender.
