Kamaljit Singh, a resident of Shivalik City, Sector 127 in Kharar, was arrested by the police for murdering his wife. He strangled her with his T‑shirt, placed her body in a bag and dumped it in a canal near Rupnagar.

Kamaljit's friend and accomplice Sukhdeep Singh, alias Dimpy, has also been arrested in the case.

Complainant Kuldeep Singh of Ludhiana stated that his elder sister Raj Kaur was married to Kamaljit Singh in 2023. Kamaljit used to consume liquor and beat his wife. On August 20, around 7am, Kuldeep and his mother visited their house. On insisting, Kamaljit disclosed that he had strangled her to death on August 13.

A case under Sections 103, 238, and 3 (5) of the BNS has been registered at Kharar City police station.
