The complainant, Dr Harbans Singh Popli, who had served as health officer in the Municipal Committee here, alleged that his younger brother Manpreet had fraudulently sold 83 kanal land that the complainant had purchased in 2015 at Kala Tibba village, near Abohar.

Sanjeev Setia, incharge, Economic Offences Wing, said the complainant had reportedly sent general power of attorney in favour of his brother, but the latter transferred the property in the name of his sister Charanjit Kaur and then sold it to the family of Krishan Lal of Jhurarkhera village for nearly Rs 35 lakh. — OC
