Singla was in the middle of a row during the questioning of ex-CM Parkash Singh Badal. The Akali leadership alleged the SIT officials posed Singla as a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Later, a government official told media persons that Singla, a retired Director-Prosecution and Litigation was attached with the SIT as a legal expert.

Confirming his resignation, Singla told The Tribune that he has resigned due to family circumstances.
