Landa aides held after encounter

The Tarn Taran police arrested three operatives of gangster-turned-terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa following an encounter on Tuesday night in the Mand area under the Chohla Sahib police station.

Those arrested were identified as Yadwinder Singh Yada (32) and Kuldeep Singh Landoo (32) of Ruriwala village and Prabhdeep Singh (34) of Dhunn Dhaiwala village.

SSP Abhimanyu Rana said the Chohla Sahib police had information about the movement of gangsters. In a joint operation with the local CIA staff they raided a premises and asked the gangsters to surrender. They, however, opened fire on the police and two of them (Yadwinder Singh Yada and Kuldeep Singh Landoo) were injured in the return fire. They were admitted to the local Civil Hospital for treatment.

Following their interrogation, an ASI has also been arrested in connection with the case. He had allegedly given his service pistol to the accused in lieu of drugs.
