Lawrence Bishnoi gang member nabbed after exchange of fire near Malout
The Muktsar police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang after a brief exchange of fire near Malout town.
Muktsar DSP (D) Ramanpreet Gill said that during a routine patrol and checking operation on Saturday night, the CIA Malout team tried to stop a young man riding a motorcycle on Abohar Road on the outskirts of Malout.
"On spotting the police, the suspect tried to flee. When the police gave a chase, he opened fire at them. In retaliation, the police also fired, during which the accused sustained a bullet injury to his leg. He was taken into custody and rushed to the Malout civil hospital," said the DSP.
The accused has been identified as Abhishek, a resident of Sitto Gunno village in Fazilka district. "He is a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and used to supply weapons. Two robbery cases have been registered against him in Haryana," said the DSP.
The police claimed that two pistols and two live cartridges were seized from him.
