Punjab Legal Services Authority Member Secretary Manjinder Singh and Mohali Additional Member Secretary Smriti Dhir conducted a thorough inspection of the Rupnagar District Jail on Thursday.

During the inspection, the Member Secretary and Additional Member Secretary personally visited each barracks within the facility. To address the inmates’ concerns, the Judge engaged in conversations with them.

On the occasion, inmates’ grievances were addressed and resolved on the spot. The Member Secretary hosted a special awareness programme about the rights of the accused in jail, arrest, pre-arrest and remand stages, as well as provision free legal aid, parole and remission.

The Jail Superintendent, as well as other officers and staff, received directives emphasising the importance of promptly resolving inmates’ grievances and problems.

The Rupnagar Civil Hospital assisted in organising a special medical camp for skin diseases. Free skin medications were distributed in collaboration with the Rupnagar Rotary Club. This is the third medical camp at Rupangar District Jail to treat and prevent skin problems among the inmates. A tree plantation drive was also organised on the jail premises.
