The State Election Commission has developed a new online composite application “Local Bodies Poll Activity Monitoring System” (LBPAMS) for the facilitation of the poll officials and general public in connection with the panchayat elections.

State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri said it was a new step in modernising the electoral process with specific reference to the local body elections —panchayat and municipal poll.

He said the step has been taken to ensure free, fair and transparent elections at the grassroots.

Apart from the gram panchayat elections scheduled for October 15, the online application would also be used for the upcoming municipal as well as zila parishad elections.

The facility allows online display of voter electoral rolls for all districts which makes it easier for the public to search for their details.

The voters will have easy access to information, including nomination and self-declaration forms/affidavits of the contesting candidates.
