Bikram Majithia fails to appear before SIT
Patiala, July 20
Former SAD minister Bikram Singh Majithia, who was granted exemption from appearance before a special investigation team (SIT) on July 18, did not appear before the SIT even today.
In a letter to the SIT, Majithia’s lawyer said due to the hearing of a case in the SC on July 23, Majithia had gone to Delhi to consult his lawyers, and therefore, could not appear before the SIT.
His lawyer claimed that despite knowing about Majithia’s engagement, the SIT had deliberately set the next date for July 20.
The SIT was formed in 2021 to probe a case registered under the NDPS Act. Majithia was asked to appear before the SIT at the Police Lines, Patiala, to explain his position in the drug case registered against him.
