Dr Yogesh Garg said he came across a 45-year-old patient, Puran, who had stomach pain and was introduced as a drug addict for a long time. The patient’s family got him admitted to the de-addiction centre; however, the patient kept swallowing broken spoons, toothbrushes, and coins to get out of there. Dr Garg said when his health deteriorated, the family members consulted many doctors, but to no avail.

Dr Yogesh Garg said his family brought him to the hospital, where a CT scan of his stomach was done, and they found many metal objects. Instead of a major surgery, Dr Garg decided to do an endoscopy and removed as many as 17 broken spoons, toothbrushes, and 3 coins from his stomach that the patient had swallowed. Dr Garg said the patient felt relieved after that. He said the patient had become addicted to taking intoxicating pills and pain pills, adding that he would be counselled, and his family has been asked to stay vigil against any kind of sedative.
