A resident of Azeemgarh here died on the spot while his wife sustained injuries when a speeding Scorpio allegedly hit their bike near Alamgarh village, about 5 km from here.

Satpal (38) and his wife Pushpa (36) had gone to Rupnagar village near the Indo-Pak border yesterday to celebrate Bhai Dooj.

The couple was returning to their village on a bike today when a speeding Scorpio allegedly hit them near Alamgarh. The Scorpio dragged the bike for a long distance before speeding away.

Satpal’s body was shifted to the hospital in a National Highway ambulance. Passersby got the injured woman admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

The police said an investigation had been initiated into the incident.
