The police arrested two persons today evening in the case of the murder of a 23-year-old youth, Pradeep Tarad, a resident of the border village of Daulatpura. The deceased was shot dead late Sunday night. The police said the elder brother of the deceased, Mangej alias Mukesh, and his friend Akashdeep of Mohanpura have been arrested for Pradeep’s murder. The police said efforts were being made to seize the murder weapon.

23-year-old Pradeep Tarad, who studied at a college in Sriganganagar, was shot dead on Sunday night near the India-Pakistan border. On Monday morning, some labourers saw the body and informed the police.

Pradeep’s family members said he had gone to his farm, which was 3 km away from the border, on a motorcycle to inspect his crops.

As there was a night curfew up to 500 meters from the Zero Line, passes were issued by the Border Security Force to farmers to work in the fields. Acting on a complaint from the deceased’s brother, the police registered a case against unknown persons.

Police official said a medical board of three doctors was constituted for the post-mortem examination.
