A man clubbed his brother to death in Sainsara Kalan village here on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Nirmal Singh (40).

Police have arrested the accused Balbir Singh from the village.

Jagroop Singh, the complainant and brother of the victim, said that they were three brothers and a sister. He was living separately with his family, while their sister was married.

Balbir and Nirmal were not married and lived together in the same house in the village.

Jagroop said the two usually quarrelled with each other over trifle issues. On Thursday, they again had a verbal dual so he came to sort out the matter at their residence. Later, Jagroop slept in the house at night. When they were sleeping at midnight, he heard Balbir shouting that he would end the matter today. Jagroop woke up and he saw Balbir hitting Nirmal with a wooden club killing him on the spot. Then he left the scene with the weapon.

SHO Kamalpreet Kaur at Jhander police station, said that the police have arrested the accused and recovered the wooden club. A case under Section 103 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered in this connection, she added.
