The accused, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste, reportedly used a sharp weapon to attack the victims. The incident took place at Boparai Baj Singh village around 2 pm on Tuesday. The village falls in the Lopoke area of the Raja Sansi Assembly constituency. Jobandeep Singh, a Jat Sikh, was a resident of Kakad village in the same area.

The police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of Lakhwinder Singh, father of Jobandeep.

Raja Sansi DSP Inderjit Singh said the bodies had been sent for a post-mortem examination. Jobandeep used to earn a living by plying tractor-trailer for supplying earth and agricultural material, while his family owned two acres of land. He said the deceased, who frequented the house of the accused, had developed illicit relations with the girl.

When Gurdial learnt about it, he killed both of them, the DSP said. The accused was running a gurdwara on the outskirts of the village, where he along with his wife and a daughter used to live. However, his wife had recently moved out over differences.
