Man kills father over land
In a bid to grab 12 acres of land, a man allegedly pushed his father into the Bhakra canal with his hands tied behind the back. The suspect, identified as Sukhpreet Singh, has been arrested.
Complainant Annpreet Kaur, a resident of Jhanedi village in Sangrur, who is a daughter of deceased Baljinder Singh, told the police that her father and her brother Sukhpreet came to meet her on April 17 and left on April 19.
On April 27, the body of his father was retrieved from Bhakra Canal at Gandakhedi.
Bassi Pathana DSP Raj Kumar Sharma said Sukhpreet made his father consume alcohol and pushed him into the canal on the intervening night of April 21 and 22 near Reona village.
