Baldev Singh, brother of the deceased Kashmir Singh, said: “Mangal Ram, a resident of our village, was bursting firecrackers in front of his house. His neighbour Lovleen Singh asked him not to burst crackers in the street. They both argued and later fought, but the issue was resolved after elders' intervened. However, newly elected sarpanch Nishan Singh and seven others attacked Mangal Ram’s house. They opened fire in which my brother Kashmir Singh, who was there to pacify them, was killed.” The police said the accused used a pistol, a .315 bore rifle and a .12 bore weapon. “Two accused have been arrested and the remaining would be nabbed soon,” the Rajasansi SHO said.
