Fatehgarh Sahib, February 5

On the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), rolling mills in the industrial town of Mandi Gobindgarh will shift from coal to piped natural gas (PNG), relatively a cleaner fuel, from March 31.

“The pipeline for the supply and distribution of PNG has already been laid completed. To help the industry, the state government has reduced VAT on the PNG from 13.4 per cent to 3 per cent,” DC Amrit Kaur Gill said while presiding over a meeting of the district environment committee here today.
