Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa lashed out at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann because of his ‘repeated failures’ in defending Punjab’s rights.

CM needs to focus on state

Instead of focusing on party expansion, he should focus on working to improve the deteriorating law and order as well as the poor state of the economy in his own state. — Partap Singh Bajwa , Punjab LoP

Bajwa said CM Mann refused to speak on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue when he announced that the Aam Aadmi Party would contest all 90 Assembly seats in Haryana on Thursday. He said instead of strongly advocating Punjab’s claim on the SYL water, Mann said the matter was sub-judice and he could not comment on it.

Bajwa said. “He adopts a weak stance when it comes to Punjab’s problems. He and his party do not put in an effort to protect Punjab’s rights. Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak had failed to defend Punjab’s rights on its river water while he was speaking to a journalist on a television channel in Haryana in October 2023.”

The LoP said the Punjab CM was going to leave Punjab and its citizens at God’s mercy to lead the Haryana election campaign. He said, “Instead of focusing on party expansion, he should focus on working to improve the deteriorating law and order as well as the poor state of the economy in his own state.”
