Two unidentified persons wearing masks opened fire at a grocery shop at Mari Mustafa village in Moga district on Friday evening. According to the police, the assailants targeted shop owner Seepa Singh, who had been under security cover following threats from a USA-based youth hailing from the same village. While Singh escaped unhurt, the police employee deployed as his security guard sustained injuries. Villagers said Singh’s family had strained relations with the family of the USA-based youth, who had allegedly issued the threats. The police have rounded up the youth’s father for questioning.
