Making a hike of 5 per cent in MBBS course fee in all government and private medical colleges in the state, the Department of Medical Education and Research, Punjab, has released a notification to regulate the MBBS admissions.

The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) will make 1,550 admissions as per the notification. These seats include 750 seats in four government medical colleges and the remaining 800 in four private and two minority status medical institutions in the state.

As per the notification, the full MBBS course fee in four government medical colleges in Amritsar, Patiala, Faridkot and Mohali has been raised from Rs 9.05 lakh to 9.50 lakh.

The MBBS full course fee for management quota seats in all private medical colleges has been increased from Rs 55.25 lakh to Rs 58.02 lakh . For a government quota seat in private colleges, the fee has been hiked from Rs 21. 48 lakh to Rs 22.54 lakh.

Every private medical college has 50 per cent seats reserved under government quota. The remaining 50 per cent seats comprise 35 per cent management quota and 15 per cent NRI quota. There is no change in the fee structure for NRI quota seats, which is $1.10 lakh.
