Author Arundhati Roy will be the keynote speaker at the ‘Mela Ghadri Babeyan Da’ this year, which will be held on November 7, 8 and 9 at the Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Hall here.

This year it will be dedciated to the “Struggles against Corporatisation and Fascism”, while also exploring the Israel-Hamas war and the environment issues in the country. The three-day mela will also see the presence of Newsclick founder Probir Purkayastha, academician Apoorvanand and senior Supreme Court advocate Rajinder Singh Cheema.

The mela is usually held in October end or in the beginning of Noevember every year, but this year it has been postponed further due to Diwali. Every year, the mela is dedicated to the martyrs of the freedom movement, historic struggles, civil rights and peasant movements in India, along with discussion on the current crisis facing the world.
