Despite the recent arrests of four individuals allegedly involved in targeting transformers, unknown miscreants struck again on Saturday night, stealing copper and oil from a Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) transformer in the Ajit Singh Nagar area, near the new grain market in Abohar.

The City-1 police had arrested four suspects, Yogesh alias Gaurav, Ajay alias Bauna, Vijay Kumar, and Kuldeep Singh on Friday, following a tip-off during a routine patrol near the Seed Farm terminal.

These individuals were accused of damaging PSPCL transformers, and police recovered two stolen motorcycles from their possession. However, no stolen transformer goods were found with them, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The theft, which occurred late Saturday night, resulted in a power outage that lasted for several hours. The incident was discovered early on Sunday morning when former Sarpanch of Ajit Singh Nagar, Som Prakash, was alerted that the transformer outside his house had been targeted.

He informed the concerned authorities promptly. PSPCL officials and a police team are on-site investigating the theft.
