Gill, who has been sculpting for the past 22 years, is widely known for his exceptional craftsmanship, with his statues being sent not only across India, but also to several countries.
Gill has created statues of many notable personalities, including Baba Ladi Shah, Sidhu Moosewala, Sandeep Nangal Ambian and numerous martyred soldiers. He also sculpted a statue of India’s former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, which earned him significant recognition.
Sharing his journey, Iqbal Singh said he developed a passion for sculpting in childhood and crafted his first statue—of Gautam Buddha—at the age of 20. Alongside farming, he has continued to pursue his artistic calling, with hundreds of his handcrafted statues now installed in various parts of India and abroad.
He said his aim is to honour those who have brought pride to the nation. His art gallery in Moga houses several statues of prominent Punjabi personalities and national figures such as Manmohan Singh, Mika Singh, Sidhu Moosewala and Baba Ladi Shah.
Gill added that the statue of Dharmendra will take about one week to complete. Once finished, it will be installed in his art gallery, where he plans to pay tribute to the beloved actor.
