The police have arrested a man for allegedly selling fake fertiliser in the district.

Agriculture Development Officer Gurloveleen Singh said he got a complaint from Gurbhej Singh and Rashpal Singh, both residents of Mundi Jamaal village, that Harjinder Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh Panchtoor village, had supplied them with fake fertiliser under brand name “Fertis”.

The agriculture officials said 1.32 quintal fake fertiliser had been recovered from the suspect, who was selling it in villages without a valid licence or permission from the state government.

The police have registered an FIR under Sections 420 of the IPC and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act at the Fatehgarh Panchtoor police station and arrested the suspect. — TNS
