Gurkirat Singh, an alumnus of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Mohali, has secured the top position in the arts stream of the 147th course at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Maharashtra.

Gurkirat, son of a retired Lance Naik from Amritsar, made it to the NDA on his fourth attempt. He was one of six former cadets of the Mohali institute, who graduated on Saturday, following three years of rigorous training.

The other five are Barjinder Singh, Sukhdev Singh Gill, Yuvraj Singh Tomar, Vinayak Sharma and Kush Pandeya. The passing-out parade was reviewed by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh.
