The residents said the overbridge was constructed in 2012 but streetlights remained operational for only a few months.

The deceased has been identified as Vinod Kumar of Jhumianwali village. The bereaved family asked the police to register a case against the erring youngsters for riding at high speed.

Vinod was returning home from a bitumen mixing plant on his bike around 8.30 pm. Three youths riding on a bike coming from the front rammed head on into the deceased’s motorcycle. One them — Monu, a resident of Alamgarh — was referred to Bathinda after administering first aid.
