Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Bhullar was placed under suspension on October 16 after the CBI arrested him in a Rs 8 lakh bribery case. Bhullar, who is in judicial custody, was held from his Mohali office following a complaint by a Fatehgarh Sahib-based scrap dealer, who accused the IPS officer of demanding monthly payment for “settling” a 2023 FIR against him.
During searches at Bhullar's residence, the CBI seized Rs 7.5 crore in cash and 2.5 kg of gold jewellery.
