NGO rebuilds elderly couple’s house that collapsed due to rain in Nai Abadi

So far, the NGO has got houses of 19 needy families re‑constructed. Many people, who were hit by rains last year, were yet to get even a meagre compensation from the government.
On the occasion of the completion of “Project Chhat 19”, the NGO members visited the spot to congratulate the couple. The NGO is headed by Advocate Amit Asija “Bawa”, who is the youngest son of late Mohinder Pratap Asija — who along with late Ramesh Bajaj, had organised the first mass marriage function at Nehru Park here about three decades back. Bawa’s grandfather Mahashya Krishan was one of the veteran freedom fighters of the region.
The NGO provides free legal assistance to people with limited financial means. Whenever the team learns that an economically disadvantaged family has lost their roof due to a calamity, they visit the site and assure to build a one‑room house after removing the debris.
