No AAP Rajya Sabha MP is ready to resign to make for Kejriwal in upper house: Bupesh Baghel
Punjab Congress General Secretary In-charge Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday said that after the AAP’s poll debacle in Delhi elections, there was infighting within the party, and none of their leaders were willing to leave their Rajya Sabha seats for the party supremo Arvind Kejriwal.
“As a result, the party had to announce Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora as the candidate for the Ludhiana (West) elections, even though the by-elections are scheduled much later in July. They could have asked Arora to resign,” Baghel said at a press conference on Saturday.
He alleged that following the AAP’s loss in Delhi, many senior leaders and former ministers from Delhi were secretly shifting to Punjab to run affairs of the AAP-led government. “The AAP government is also losing face in Punjab after their Delhi debacle. The war against drugs is a farce and a cover-up for their failures in Delhi,” he said, questioning the party’s actions against the drug menace in the last three years.
After meeting with party MLAs, MPs, and district presidents, Bhagel said that efforts were underway to reconstitute the PPCC and other frontal organisations in the coming days.
While denying any change in the PPCC chief, he said that although it was the prerogative of the party high command, there were no plans for such a change. He dismissed reports of a change in the PPCC President as rumours. He said no discussion was held regarding infighting within the party.
