No foul play in Mumbai techie’s death, say Jalandhar ED officials

Dinesh Nandwana, founder and chairman emeritus of Mumbai-based technology company Vakrangee Limited passed away on Friday after suffering a fatal heart attack during an Enforcement Directorate raid at his Andheri (East) residence.

The raids was conducted by the Jalandhar unit of the ED, along with teams from the local division.

The Jalandhar wing of the ED led the raid at Nandwana’s establishment in connection with an ongoing money-laundering probe initiated at Jalandhar. ED officials ruled out any foul play in the incident. Nandwana had a history of heart-related ailments, they said.

Senior ED officials from Jalandhar said, “Nandwana faced health complications at his residence during a raid in connection with a money-laundering probe being conducted by the Jalandhar ED. He suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital by his family members. ED officials present during the raid also accompanied him. In fact, ED officials had first informed the police about the unfortunate incident. It was a routine investigation and there was no foul play in that. The family has confirmed that Nandwana had a history of cardiac ailments. No one from his family has lodged any complaint in this regard.”

Officials added, “The probe was initiated in Jalandhar. It was a larger probe during which several Mumbai properties were raided, one of which was the Vakrangee founder’s Andheri residence. It was the only property associated with Nandwana that was raided during the probe.”
