The Punjab Police has cancelled the leaves of all officers in the state until January 27, according to an official statement issued on Monday.

Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, announced the decision, stating, “No leave would be sanctioned to GOS, NGOs and EPOS during this period. All kinds of leaves sanctioned previously stand cancelled forthwith due to Republic Day functions on January 26.”

In response to the directive, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora, told The Tribune that the police will be on high alert throughout the period.

Additionally, the police have initiated cordon and search operations (CASO) targeting snatchers, robbers, thieves, and drug smugglers. In Phagwara, Superintendent of Police, Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, confirmed that a team from Satnampura police conducted a search operation in and around Law Gate in the early hours today to identify anti-national and anti-social elements.
