The state Water Resources Department has decided to close the water outflow from Ranjit Sagar Dam for 31 days to carry out urgent work.

The official spokesperson said water outflow from the dam will remain closed for 31 days (January 15 -February 14) to complete urgent work, including the plugging of under sluices and the impounding of Shahpurkandi Dam.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
