In an answer in the Rajya Sabha to a question by Congress MP from Ferozepur Sher Singh Ghubaya, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said the border check-post at Hussainiwala in Ferozepur district was closed after the 1971 India-Pakistan war. “At present, there is no proposal under consideration to open it,” the MoS said.

Congress MP Ghubaya had asked whether the government had any proposal to open the Hussainiwala border for road and train movement on the lines of Wagah border.
