Protesting against non-regularisation of their services, members of SSA/Mid Day Meal Non-Teaching Employees Union today staged a dharna on Sangrur-Patiala road near residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The protesters were demanding regularisation of services of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Mid-Day Meal employees in Department of Education with full pay and allowances, like dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical allowance, leave encashment and gratuity. They also demanded implementation of Punjab Civil Services Rules and pension benefits for them, besides increase in the salaries of mid-day meal employees.

The leaders also said that the non-teaching employees would observe pen-down strike from February 21 to February 23 to express their resentment and compel the state government to accept their demands.
