A day after the state government received a rap from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on the issue of illegal mining in Ropar, the Water Resources Department has issued a notice to the Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer posted at Ropar for their “irresponsible attitude”.

The duo, Manoj Kumar Bansal and Harshat Kumar, have been given 15 days to reply to the notice, wherein they have been accused of not following the guidelines for preparing the district survey report (DSR) for mining operations in Ropar. “If you do not reply to the notice within the stipulated time, the government will initiate disciplinary action against you,” reads the notice.

The notice mentions the Department of Water Resources had to face the ire of the the NGT because of the two officers. The Tribune had reported on Thursday, how the NGT had come down heavily on the government over illegal mining in Ropar.
