Chandigarh, November 18

Actor-turned-social worker Sonu Sood met SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal late this evening, adding suspense on which party he would align with ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections.

Earlier, Sonu had announced his sister Malvika would contest from Moga, but had not disclosed the party she would represent. Sood is apparently meeting various party leaders to weigh the options. In August, he had met AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi and agreed to be an “ambassador” for a youth initiative. A few days ago, Sood met Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

An Akali spokesperson declined to comment on the discussions held at the meeting. Sukhbir tweeted a photo with Sood, saying: “Met @SonuSood in Chandigarh & had an engaging conversation about his charitable initiatives. I laud his generous spirit, he has helped thousands of needy people.”

The Akali Dal has already announced its nominee for Moga. However, the party is yet to decide its candidate for 14 other seats.
