Officials discuss development, border village residents’ issues at meeting

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Senu Duggal and SSP Varinder Singh Brar held a meeting with members of the village defence committees (VDCs) at Jodha Bhaini village in Jalalabad sub-division today. The aim of the meeting was to discuss development of villages and address concerns of border residents.

The DC said the administration was giving special priority to the development of villages and resolving issues faced by border area residents. She appreciated the cooperation extended by villagers to security agencies and their role in providing information about suspicious activities on the border.

She said the VDCs had been set up in all border villages to keep a vigil on drug peddling and other anti-social activities. She assured that the administration would address concerns of border residents promptly.

The SSP appealed to villagers to provide information about drone activities or suspicious persons to the police or the BSF. He assured that the identity of informants would be kept confidential. BSF Commandant Ravi Ranjan, SP Pradeep Singh Sandhu and Jalalabad SDM Balkaran Singh were also present at the meeting.
