After the coming into force of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, the police issued only eight challans for underage driving in the district during the last month. The Act was supposed to be implemented from August 1, but a 20-day relaxation was allowed on the request of parents.

Sub-Inspector Sukhdev Singh, incharge, Traffic Police, Muktsar district, said, “Total eight challans were issued last month in the district for underage driving. We are regularly issuing challans for triple riding and using phone while driving. We also have three breathalysers (alcohol testers) and three challans were issued on recently.”
