The SAD today called the decision to induct Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Gurkirat Singh Kotli in the Cabinet a move to protect them despite their “heinous” crimes.

YAD chief Parambans Singh Romana and MLA Kanwarjit Singh Rozy Barkandi said Raja Warring was accused of abetting suicide of contractor Karan Kataria who killed his two children before shooting himself in Faridkot, whereas Gurkirat Singh Kotli was accused of raping and molesting a French tourist who had visited Punjab in 1994. They said Warring’s brother-in-law had already been booked in abetment to suicide case, whereas the NCW had issued a notice to the government regarding Kotli’s involvement in the rape case.

AAP’s Harpal Singh Cheema said if tainted ministers were included in the Cabinet, they would wage a war from the streets to the Vidhan Sabha and protest at the CM’s residence. BJP state chief Ashwani Kumar Sharma said the Congress failed to keep its promises in the past 4.5 years and now they were blaming it on Capt Amarinder Singh. — TNS
