Sleuths of the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of the Punjab Police have seized 5.15 kg heroin, Rs 29.16 lakh drug money, two mobile phones and arrested two persons in connection with the case.

SSP Bhupinder Singh said a trap was laid following intelligence inputs and Sajan of Basti Aawa in the city area and Resham, alias Vishal, of Naurang ke Leli village were arrested. They have been were booked under the NDPS Act.

“During the investigation, it came to light that the accused had links with Pakistani smuggler Utshah Pathan and had received heroin consignments in the past too,” said the SSP. The police were investigating the forward and backward linkages in the case and more seizure was likely in the coming days, he added.
