Over 15,000 expected at ‘CM di Yogshala’ in Jalandhar today

The Jalandhar District Administration is fully geared to host the upcoming state-level “Punjab Yog Samagam” on June 19 at the PAP complex under the “CM di Yogshala” initiative for which a gathering of 15,000 is expected.

The ambitious “CM di Yogshala” campaign, launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, shall be completing two years this month. To mark the occasion, arrangements for a huge gathering of yoga lovers have been made at the PAP ground on Thursday morning where thousands will do yoga alongside CM Bhagwant Mann.

The district administration has made preparations for which 17,000 yoga mats have been laid. Being held in the heat of June, the event will be marked by special “hydration points” and medical arrangements for thousands who congregate for the yoga session.

Each participant will be given a water bottle, a food packet and a yoga mat. Customised T-shirts will also be given to the participants. The food packets will comprise an amla candy, a sweet, a bottle of lemonade and another of mango juice.

To beat the heat amidst soaring mercury, as many as 25 hydration points have also been set up at the PAP ground and 25 medical teams have been pressed into service. Apart from this, a fleet of buses will be ferrying those who will be participating in the event from far-flung areas.

The event will begin at 6 am with the chief guest’s speech, followed by an hour long yoga session till 7 am.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal and Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur visited the venue at 5 am today, where they reviewed the final touches of the preparations.

Notably, this is the state CM’s second yogshala event in Jalandhar, the first was held at PAP grounds in Jalandhar in June 2023 – which had also witnessed a huge gathering.

Invitations have been sent to Cabinet ministers, MLAs, constituency in charges, mayor and other key leaders and functionaries for the event.
