The BSF killed an intruder near the Tashpatan outpost at the International Border (IB) on Wednesday morning.Despite repeated warnings to stop, the intruder kept on advancing, forcing the BSF to fire at him.

An FIR has been registered under the Indian Passport Act and the Foreigners Act at the Narot Jaimal Singh police station.

The police are investigating the case. “The identity and motive of the infiltrator is being looked into. A formal protest will be lodged tomorrow with Pakistan Rangers,” said an officer.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
