She said the pilot phase for deployment of GPS devices in 110 buses had been completed in Jalandhar-1 & Jalandhar-2 depots. This system would now be installed in all 18 depots of Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS. Implementation of this project would be completed by May 2020 and it would be extended to buses of the PRTC and private stage carriage buses in the near future, she added.

The minister said a panic button would also be provided in all buses in collaboration with the state police for passenger safety especially women safety. Likewise central control room was being established at Chandigarh for monitoring and control of buses.
